God loves each and every one of us far more deeply and strongly than we can imagine. God deeply desires to have a personal relationship with every person on earth that every person might know how much she or he is loved by the creator of the universe. In response to God's abiding love for us, God wishes us to let that love flow out from us to others. God wishes for each of us, reflecting the perfect love of our creator, to reach out to each other and help each other along the often difficult road of live. God wishes all of us to have a strong desire for justice in this world, the same justice we can expect in God's Kingdom when it comes. We are offered a beautiful plan for each of our lives as a gift from God (beautiful does not mean easy or challenge free or painless) and a gift of eternal life with God. Of course, we have to desire those things and be willing not only to accept the gifts but to strive for their fruition.
However, all too often, the tepid nature of our daily desires disappoint God. As C.S. Lewis states in
The Weight of Glory, "Our Lord finds our desires not too strong but too weak. We are like half-hearted creatures who fool about with sex and drink and ambition when infinite joy is offered us. We are like children who would rather go on making mud-pies in a slum because we cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. We are far too easily pleased."
